The original motivation for traveling to Chicago last weekend was to attend my friend Jen's 40th birthday party. A little history...my family moved to Tennessee from a suburb of Chicago when I was six. In Chicago, Jen and her parents lived several houses down the street. She was an only child, and she spent A LOT of time at our house - the chaos and excitement of five children was just too tempting, I guess. Jen was another sibling. In Chicago last weekend, we met her and her mom for lunch and reminisced and laughed about growing up together. Among other things, Jen claimed she had fond memories of having cereal for dinner at our house. "Cereal for dinner" she announced. "I never had cereal for dinner at my house."***
And so we returned to Nashville on Sunday around noon and as soon as we walked through the door, we loaded everyone into the car and drove about 45 minutes south to a picnic at a local farm. When we returned later that evening - after hayrides and bluegrass and 90 degree temperatures - everyone was very hot and very tired. Grace requested dinner...and you'll never guess what we ate that night...
I remember many nights that I would eat cereal for dinner and sometimes I still do. So does my mom and now so does Brody!!!
ReplyDeleteLove you,

No one loves my "little sister" Sarah more than me. I'd eat cereal for dinner with you anytime. Love and miss you. (P.S. I talked to Mary the other night in my prayers, and she's okay with me being the third Wright sister) xoxoxo -jen
