And then Sunday rolled around and I told her if she wore Jesse, we would get daddy to wear Woody. She was in. So Brad spent about an hour composing a truly awesome Woody costume complete with a cowboy hat, a belt buckle (made from a vanilla wafer box), a red scarf...and the pièce de résistance...a white t-shirt on which he drew a plaid shirt and vest. Exactly like Woody's. It pretty much rocked. And Grace was elated. She happily wore her Jesse costume and even let me put her hair in pigtails (adorable) for the first time EVER (unfortunately not until after we took a family picture).
And then some friends and neighbors came over for dinner and cupcakes before heading to the streets for some treats...and they were ALL dressed as princesses. (Even Lila - who refused her super monkey costume - was a self-proclaimed fairy princess). So after about twenty minutes of running around the backyard, Grace disappeared. I found her upstairs with her Jesse costume on the floor, pigtails taken out and a princess dress in hand. Softly and a little teary she said "Mom, can you help me put it on? All of my friends are princesses."
And so she went as Cinderella. And Lila as a purple fairy princess. And Brad as a lone Woody. And momma as a witch. And it was the best Halloween yet.

That Woody shirt is simply amazing! I love the story and the photo too--just wish mommy would have been in the family photo. Love you, Nana
