Defining success
We went to my parent's cabin for Thanksgiving and it was heavenly. Last night, my dad came back to Nashville with us for some doctor's appointments and this afternoon, he and I took the girls to see Santa. It was my dad's idea. He's taken Grace every year for the past few years without any success. She won't go near the man. But I thought maybe after Easter last year when we witnessed Lila's love for the Easter bunny, Lila might sit in his lap and then persuade Grace to at least pose for a picture. But Lila got within two feet of him and began howling and screaming until the "elf" gave her a candy cane. Then Grace slowly and silently walked past him - hiding behind me - to get her own candy cane. I guess they would consider it a success since they both got some candy out of the deal.

Loved the story and photo!
ReplyDeleteWe were laughing out loud and are curious to see how Marielle will respond this year.
Marielle informed me yesterday that she just loves candy canes-- but not the red and white "virgin"/AKA version, she wants rainbow!
Hugs and kisses to Grace and Lila,
love,
Aunt Rosemary
And in a completely opposite manner.... Anna and I were at the mall today and happened to see Santa and Mrs. Claus sitting in their life-sized gingerbread house- with NO line! So, Anna rushes over, climbs in Santa's lap and practically tries to make out with him- right in front of the Mrs.! I overheard him ask her what she wanted for Christmas and she responded, "All I want is a kiss from you Santa!" and she planted one right on his cheek (though I could tell she was going for lips!) Ahhh... that's cousin Anna for ya.
